Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act

The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act helps to ensure advance notice is given in cases of qualified plant closings and mass layoffs. All employers are encouraged to provide notice of layoffs as quickly as possible, however, in some cases, employers are required to provide notice under provisions of the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act. Additional information including requirements of the WARN Act can be viewed on the U.S. Dept. of Labor WARN Act Compliance Assistance webpage. Information on layoff assistance can be found on the Rapid Response webpage.
