Assistance for Workers Impacted by Spirit Arilines Layoffs

The Nevada Department of Employment, Training & Rehabilitation (DETR) is supporting former Spirit Airlines employees impacted by the company’s recent operational changes. DETR’s priority is ensuring workers and company representatives have timely access to information about unemployment benefits, reemployment services, retraining opportunities, and individualized assistance as they search for employment and transition to new jobs.

Key Efforts Underway:
Rapid Response 
Rapid Response is a free program that provides strategies designed to respond to layoffs and plant closures by quickly coordinating services and providing immediate support to employers and their affected workers. DETR’s Rapid Response team is sharing information on unemployment insurance, health coverage options and reemployment services with Spirit Airlines representatives.

Southern Nevada:

Rapid Response events connect affected employees with immediate support and resources to help ease the transition after job loss. Attendees will have access to:
• Career and job search assistance
• Training and upskilling opportunities through EmployNV
• Information and guidance on Unemployment Insurance (UI)
• Details on healthcare options and available community services.

These events are free, open to the public, and designed to provide personalized assistance to anyone affected by the layoffs.

Workforce and Training Services
Through EmployNV, employees can access no cost career and training services, including:
•    Career counseling and job search assistance
•    Resume and interview preparation
•    Skills assessments and re skilling opportunities
•    Training grants for high demand career fields
•    Access to job fairs and recruitment events
•    Community resources and supportive services

Unemployment Insurance Support
Impacted workers are encouraged to file for Unemployment Insurance (UI) at NUI.nv.gov
